Apple’s iPhone 6 lineup was one of the company’s best-selling handsets in recent years. The iPhone 6 managed to sell 60 million units in six months, and in less than a year managed to ship 90 million units. According to data from Counterpoint Research (via PhoneArena), the iPhone X seems to be lagging behind.
Apple has yet to officially disclose how many units of the iPhone X that they have sold to date, but based on Counterpoint Research’s data, we are looking at around 63 million units so far. It’s definitely no small figure to scoff at, but like we said, the iPhone 6 took half a year to hit that mark, meaning that the iPhone X is rather slow, and it also seems unlikely that we’ll be seeing it hit the 90 million mark, especially with 2018’s iPhones literally around the corner.
That being said, Counterpoint Research doesn’t think it’s all doom and gloom for Apple as the company believes that the 2018 iPhones, which consists of three different models at different price points, will actually help to boost Apple’s revenues even higher. They also believe that the 6.1-inch LCD model could be the one helping to drive sales
However there are reports claiming that Apple could intentionally delay the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone to see how well the more expensive models sell. Either way we should find out more in the next few months, and remember to check back with us later for the official iPhone reveal.
